Do I need planning permission for a garage conversion in Scotland?
Many garage conversions don't need planning permission, but almost all need a building warrant from the council because the room becomes habitable space. Some estates have conditions that remove permitted rights, so we check this for your address before quoting.
How long does a garage conversion take?
Once the building warrant is approved, most single garage conversions take a few weeks on site. We'll give you a realistic programme with your quote and keep you updated as the job goes.
Will the room be warm enough to use all year?
Yes. The floor, walls and ceiling are insulated to current building standards and we add heating, so it's as warm as any other room in the house.
Can you match the brickwork or render outside?
We build up the old door opening to suit the front of the house, with a new window or door, and finish it in render, cladding or blockwork to match as closely as possible.
Can you add a media wall or feature lighting?
Yes. A lot of our conversions finish with a slatted media wall and LED ceiling channels. We plan the wiring for it during the build so there are no cables showing.
